Starting September 1, seniors 65+ will ride FREE on Regional Rail in Pennsylvania. When traveling to Delaware or New Jersey the fare is half of the regular one way fare. For NJ it is $5.00 and Delaware is $4.00. This applies during all times.

The start of FREE Regional Rail rides coincides with the phase out of the paper PA Senior Citizen Transit ID Cards. Beginning Sept. 1, seniors 65+ will need a SEPTA Key Senior Photo ID Card or a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Non-Driver ID with a magnetic stripe on the back. These cards can still be swiped at turnstiles and fare boxes to receive the FREE transit and Regional Rail rides. However, new licenses issued by PennDOT on or after July 2017 do not have magnetic stripes and cannot be used.

Septa will be at Keystone Opportunity Center on Wednesday, September 5 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm to take your picture and sign you up.
